OCBC Cycle Singapore 2009 (22Feb2009)

It's Singapore's first mass cycling event with around 5,000 participants. Organized at the location where the night F1 was held, the event was certainly drawing a huge crowd from all walks of life.

Beside criterium events, there were 4 categories for public (i.e. 50km, 40km, 20km and 5km).

It was a very hot day where there were a few cyclists who had to be chauferred by an ambulance to the hospital.

The organizer also rented out bikes for the participants.

Certainly a lot of bikes!

The public rides finished by midday, followed soon after by Criterium events.

Master's Criterium
There were local as well as overseas professional cyclists (i.e. USA, UK, NZ, Australia, Japan, etc.) participated in the events.

The whole event was indeed quite succesful which should be done every year to promote cycling as a friendly and healthy sports.

I participated in the 20km - community ride on my Brompton bike. It was quite fun, though it was quite challenging not to try racing ahead of the pack when you were surrounded with hundreds of people riding different kind of bicycles. Congratulations to the organizer!

Looking forward to joining again next year.
